The first time I went I was shocked. Grown women singing (without laughing) and cooing at their kiddos, sing-songy music in the background and silly activities that seemed oh too simple to actually stimulate young minds. It was AMAZING for my child. She LOVED every minute (and truth be told, I did too- seeing her face light up as we walked through the door- did it for me). Gymboree is a "playground" for kids, ages 0-5 years. And before you start getting skeptical on me, the 0-6 months love it just as much as the older kiddos (swear). It is a great place to meet other mammas as well as introduce your kiddos to others their age. The "simple" activities are developmentally challenging and just plain smart. You MUST try at least once if you haven't already (they have a FREE trial class so no excuse!). One thing you should know- leave your manolos at the door- it is "socks only" here..(but that doesn't mean you can't buy a groovy new pair). If you time it well, your kiddo will fall asleep right after class (it is THAT stimulating). Do me a favor...just remember to say hi to Gymbo for me...
