Positive energy, inner beauty (and let’s face it- when someone has inner beauty, they also have outer beauty), someone who balances life well, and no matter what life throws at them- they see the glass half full. Our Hot Mamma’s are working moms who “have it all”- family, career and happiness. And in true OCMAMMA style- our Hot Mamma’s are also…HOT.

Description of company you own or work for: Founded in Austin, Texas in 2003, MommyMixer® connects busy families in need of part-time babysitting with high-quality college students. At each hour-long Mixer, moms personally interview a number of candidates and leave with an A+ list of potential babysitters. Many candidates are not only used for babysitting, but also act as family-assistants: running errands, helping with organization, planning and producing birthday parties, etc. Taking only an hour, our Mixers are a time efficient, cost effective alternative to part-time nanny placement services, answering classified ads or using online sitter database services. Whether you need help 20 hours a week or if you just need an occasional babysitter on hand for a quick break, MommyMixer can connect you to our exclusive network of great sitter candidates who want to help you and your family.
How does your business help other moms and/or kids? By connecting busy families with a group of great college students who babysit.
How do you balance work and kids? With our latest addition in March, it has become quite a challenge! Especially when you factor in my time involved as a volunteer with Girl Scouts, which I have participated in for the past 20 years. I am very lucky to be able to work from home and never miss a moment of my little ones’ early years. Thanks to my handy laptop, I can work from my backyard while a play-dough masterpiece is being created, in bed while I rock my newborn to sleep, or even from the pool while my husband swims with our older child. I squeeze in 15-20 minutes here and there throughout the day and schedule phone calls during naptime. It’s never easy, but where there’s a will, there’s a way!
What is your favorite activity with your kiddo? We are always on the go, out and about to the aquarium, zoo, kids museum, park. We especially LOVE Disneyland, you can find us there sometimes once a week. It is amazing to see it through a child’s eyes and experience it for the first time all over again.
What is one piece of advice that you could share with other mom’s? Get a pedicure! My one hour every week with a whirlpool foot spa and a good book or magazine really help me recharge and I return to my family feeling refreshed – and pretty!
What is your favorite online site for kids or moms? Babyjellybeans.com. It is such a timesaver to have a website for our family where I can post photos and updates from the kids for our family all across the country to see. Especially during those first couple of weeks home with a newborn, everyone knew they could check the website for photos and we got to enjoy our first week or two without a million phone calls or visitors.
What is one of your favorite books about parenting? Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy. It is the silliest book, but it was a nice relief to laugh when I was in the hospital after having my 2nd child and things weren’t going great.
What is your biggest guilty pleasure? Coffee Frappachinos from Starbucks. I LIVE for coffee!
If you won the lotto today, what would be the first thing you would spend money on? (assuming you have to buy yourself something.. I know, it is a stretch) Land, lots of land, to build our dream house. Somewhere there are seasons so our kids can grow up having room to run, animals to love, and snow to play in!
