Tara Bloom - Founder and CEO
What makes a Hot Mamma? Positive energy, inner beauty (and let’s face it- when someone has inner beauty, they also have outer beauty), someone who balances life well, and no matter what life throws at them- they see the glass half full. Our Hot Mamma’s are working moms who “have it all”- family, career and happiness. And in true OCMAMMA style- our Hot Mamma’s are also…HOT.

Our hope is that you pat our Hot Mamma’s on the back for being able to juggle it all (with a smile on their face), and when possible- support their businesses. In every HM Spotlight you will be introduced to our HM of the Month, their kiddo and their business. If you choose to contact the HM (and we hope you do), please don’t forget to tell ‘em where you heard about their hot-ness.

HOT MAMMA Questionnaire

Name: Tara Bloom

Children’s Names and Ages: Ryan, 12

Job Title: CEO & Founder

Company Name and address: Maternitique

Company Website, if applicable: www.Maternitique.com

Description of company you own or work for: Maternitique helps women enjoy the natural beauty of motherhood with safe, effective products for pregnancy beauty, prenatal nutrition, symptom relief, childbirth, postpartum and baby care in one destination.

How does your business help other moms and/or kids? We read the labels, investigate the manufacturers and test the products, taking the guesswork out of switching to safe, healthy products during the motherhood years. We know women worry about what they put on and in their bodies when they’re starting a family, and we know it’s overwhelming to try to keep track of what ingredients to avoid. By helping women reduce the toxins and chemicals in their bodies while staying beautiful and nurtured, we hope to help more women achieve and enjoy pregnancy, have easier childbirths and faster postpartum recovery, and best of all, have healthier babies.

How do you balance work and kids? I’m learning to delegate more work to others and to keep my expectations realistic—both for what I can do professionally and what I can expect of myself. The most important bottom line to me is that my child is healthy, happy and secure, so parenting always comes first.

What is your favorite activity with your kiddo? We play volleyball together. And for the first time this year, we watched "American Idol" together.

What is one piece of advice that you could share with other moms? Trust that the decisions you make in your child’s early years will make a difference later on—they will! The more time, love and energy you invest up front, the more grateful you’ll be down the road.

What is your favorite online site for kids or moms? Besides Maternitique? : - ) I enjoy reading a number of mom blogs; I love that women help women, share their stories and advice, vent and support each other. It would be impossible to name a favorite, though!

What is one of your favorite books about parenting? I’m a major book-lover, so it’s hard to narrow down to one. A collection of short stories about real-life parenting called "Mothers Who Think" (by the editors of Salon.com) is a great one. For a more soulful exploration of what some women experience on the journey into motherhood, I enjoyed "Great with Child," by Debra Rienstra.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure? Ignoring all my obligations and spending hours reading a historical fiction novel set in 1800s Europe.

If you won the lotto today, what would be the first thing you would spend money on? (assuming you have to buy yourself something.. I know, it is a stretchA week at a pampering hot springs resort and spa.
